Wool Mill

Day three on Prince Edward Island:
On my way to the another facility to audit their quality system, I stopped by MacAusland's Wool Mill. They were very friendly and didn't mind me walking around their machinery taking pictures.

Here are a few snapshots from the mill.

Oh Canada

So I'm on Prince Edward Island in beautiful Canada right now. Although the purpose of my visit is work related, I'm happy to be here nonetheless. Nothing wrong with a little international travel eh? (eh?) Ehhhhhh... So, I stumbled on a bunch of old Canadian Air Force aircraft in a memorial here in Summerside. I've always wanted to visit an airplane graveyard. This is the closest I've come to doing so thus far. They were in pretty bad shape, with crazed and cracked windshields, rusty skins and missing wing tip lights. Still beautiful old birds.

From a graphic design point of view, I think the Canadian Air Force logo combined with fading paint and rust are aesthetically pleasing. Here are a bunch of captures to that end.

Botanical Abstract

I don't think I've mentioned on this blog, that my wife has been giving tours of the Henry Moore Sculpture Exhibition ( Moore in America) at the NY Botanical Gardens in the Bronx. While her folks were visiting from Maryland this weekend, we all took in the tour led by our own personal Artist Educator. Good times. I highly recommend you check out this exhibition while you can. The sculptures are fantastic.

I brought along the Canon G9 and took some "happy snaps" as we walked. The entire gallery (89 images) is here. Once again, I'm totally impressed with this little point & shoot camera. Note: none of the images underwent any post capture processing and are straight .jpg files.

James Nachtway's Wish:

James Nachtway

James Nachtway's an incredible documentary photographer. I first heard of him in the biographical movie: War Photographer. A film that shows just how committed the man is to his work/passion. He's a winner of the TED Prize and today he reveals his project to the world. His TED wish was this: "I'm working on a story that the world needs to know about. I wish for you to help me break it in a way that provides spectacular proof of the power of news photography in the digital age."

I'll be watching at Columbus Circle in NY tonight at 9:30.

Barber's Chair

I took this photo a few weeks ago while visiting my friend Mr.Seinberg in Baltimore. It's an HDR composite from 3 images, shot at +/- 2 EV, processed in Photomatix, Lightroom and CSII. I was curious about this chair so I did a little research. This appears to be a Takara Belmont Barber's Chair. Check out their site, they still make some pretty sweet looking chairs.

"TV Room""

I can remember when I was younger, my grandparents would sometimes refer to the living room as the "TV room". I suppose it's because they lived through the time when the television was an incredible new invention - physical proof of the day's technology which you, as an American can purchase. (Enter brainwashing front and center) I wonder if they had any idea how much time they'd spend staring into that box; autistic expressions over their faces as they faded away into mindlessness.
